WEBER CO. FUNERAL CASKET TRUCK BIER ' Description This beautiful antiquecasket truck bier is from the collection of a local collector of funeral items that was auctioned in Lima, Ohio on 5/21/08. This auction received a lot of attention both local and national. A photo of the bier can be found on page 3 of the National Section of the "ANTIQUE WEEK", a national weekly antique auction and collecting newspaper. This wonderfully designed bier has the original 10" high x 33" long leaded stained glass center section with a sunrise or sunset image and an electric light that illuminates the sun. The other panels are covered in a vintage cloth material and the wood frame has the original dark gold colored paint. There are 6 - 3"diameter hard rubber wheeled casters for moving, leather handle for carrying and rubber casket rests fastened to the top. There is a metal name plate attached to the top of the bier marked "WEBER TRUCK BIER - PAT. AUG. 18, 1925 #1,550,295 - Manufactured by - J. A. & L. A. WEBER CO. - FUNERAL HOME DESIGNERS - CLEVELAND, OHIO." The bier when in the open position is 72" long, 21-1/2"high and 24" wide. This bier can be folded for storage or carrying to a small 39-1/2" long, 21-1/2" high and 8-1/2" wide. There is a hinged door for access to the back of the glass panel and to change a light bulb. This bier could be a conversation piece when used as a coffee table base with a heavy glass top. The condition is near mint with some very minor wear to the paint, a couple minor cracks in some of the stained glass and the electric wiring is usable but could be updated. This bier has a pre-packing weight of 50 pounds including the glass. The leaded stained glass will be removed and shipped separate for maximum protection or complete bier could be picked up locally in the Lima, Ohio 45805 area.
