Begins with John Sharples (1624 - 1685) arriving in the Pennsylvania colony with William Penn in 1682. Penn deeded land on Ridley Creek, in Chester County, PA, to Sharples (book includes the text of the land deed from William Penn and a facsimile of Penn's signature). Book is then divided into three parts, representing John Sharples' three surviving sons and their descendants until the year 1815 (the book's then "present date"). Also includes an Appendix containing memorials of several deceased Sharples family members; including the final stages of their lives, last words, etc. The name "Sharples" is used throughout for uniformity, but can denote both spelling variations (i.e. "Sharples" and "Sharpless").
