Description
1962 Pre L Stratocaster in refin Sherwood Green. Refinished years ago but not during my ownership. Done by the very best Sydney refinisher and looks exactly like the Stratocaster in the 40th Anniversary book page 37. Check it out. The refin is a custom job and has the finish of a 62 with the relic work done to perfection. It is an amazing guitar and may well have been a sunburst originally. Many guitars were refinished and many simply painted over the original colour with only a light "key" undercoat. Beautiful Brazilain Rosewood fingureboard. One real piece of rich timber !! Makes this guitar anything from August 1962 onwards as this is when Fender brought in the thinner " veneer" fingureboards. It is still a pretty decent piece of rosewood however. Extract from Vinatge Guitar website Rosewood fingerboard, "Veneer", 1962-1980: from August 1962 till 1980, Fender used a curved bottom rosewood fingerboard that was much thinner than the slab 'board. The veneer of rosewood got even thinner by mid 1963. Also by 1966 the rosewood changed from Brazilian to Indian rosewood. Veneer fingerboards are also identifiable from the peghead by their "dished" line (dishes toward the nut), just above the nut. With original case ...see pix. These were Australian made in those days as Fender's came in un-cased. Kluson Deluxe tuners with stripes are original. Five position switch . Not unusual for any date Fender Strat. I think the top E bridge saddle is a very old replacement as it has Fender Fender on it and not Fender Pat Pend which is all the other five bridge saddles. This instrument is an absolute collectors item and sound crisp and Fender through and through . A 1962 original finish is in a dealers window for $100,000.00 You can own this starting the bidding at a rediculous $19,950.00. Thay's only a few gallons of petrol !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Serial number confirms it at 1962. ........................................................90929 on the neck plate. This is a real bargain as I originally wanted nearer $32K but the market is now a buyers one in all respects. Bought from Jacksons Rare Guitars Annandale and I have their receipt to guarantee the year etc. 1962 Pre L Stratocaster. Pick up is OK but will ship all over the world at buyers expense. My apologies to those who linked to watch this item recently but someone in Ebay took it off because a single word in the descriptive suggested I would sell it " off Ebay ". I will take a 25% deposit ( payment over a few months at nil interest ) if you wish So we are back on.
