1940 FORD pickup truck 1940 Ford Pickup Truck ~ mostly original - >Best Offers Considered > NO RESERVE auction with under market starting bid at 10,500 See 5 videos and 14 pictures HERE This is a nice truck, in it’s 2nd restoration. It has been garaged for the past 12 years. It is mostly original and as a project it could go either way as a street rod or an original restoration. Most of the hard work has been done. It is mechanically sound with no real problems. What’s needed to complete this truck is more or less end user specific refinements. The body is all original steel with no damage. All panels are straight and pristine. The HOOD operates as original. The latch and hinges are in like new condition. The GRILLE has no damage but does show it's time, consistent with natural exposure to the elements. The tailgate is imperfect, being one panel thickness, it bears some marks of usage. The gate chains are not original but the actual hooks and receivers are original. The running boards are clean, straight and undamaged. the headlight bezels are original and in excellent condition. The license plate holder is aftermarket and has been replaced. In it’s former life, it is evident that the owner took care of this truck or never actually exposed it to it’s intended work purposes. In it’s recent restoration I have logged over 2000 miles with only minor problems, most of which have now been resolved. The transmission has recently been rebuilt, The radiator is a replacememnt and looks to be too small but is adequate for proper cooling when the accessory electric cooling fan is in use. New alternator and partially new wiring harness. The BLACK color is recent. The RAISIN is color is about 12 years old but is in very good condition. The first restoration included installation of the new motor. It is an AMC ( American Motors) 308 V-8. The exact mileage of the engine is unknown and no records are available for it at all. The suspension is 100% original with the exception of AIR SHOCKS on the rear. the front end is the original straight axle. I did some research and determined that this frame is a perfect candidate for the mustang style IFS. ( nothing that $1000.00 couldn’t fix! ) Added also some where along the way was air conditioning which is not currently operational. The new windshield was professionally installed and fused in the centerline. This was well done and accomplished as part of the first restoration, The DRIVER window is cracked and requires replacement. This occurred recently and the cause of it's breakage is unknown. The truck has NO windshield wipers. The BED is most likely not the original wood. It is solid and in good condition. The wood is PINE. The current interior was also done at that time. the headliner is pristine , velour in deep wine color. The seat is the same material and color. The dash is a little rough but undamaged. There are some slots in the lower portion which housed the previous AM/FM and CB radio. The steering column is a full tilt, source unknown. Overall, the truck is in good shape and has logged about 2000 miles since coming out of storage. As mentioned, small problems have been worked out enough to trust it as an almost daily driver. It would not take much more to complete the restoration. Here are the known issues with the truck: The front end sways a little due to weight of motor on the original frame. Needs IFS. Electrical system needs work, Everything works but the key switch has been bypassed, the headlight switch is bypassed. the cooling fan is non switched and is turned off with a wire disconnect. The AC compressor needs to be replaced. Other small problems need to be repaired to owners preference. The battery is located in the fenderwell and problematic to access. It needs to be moved.
