It is a wonderful place with great fishing, beaches, birding, crabing, and more. It is easily accessible by Highway or by taking a 2 mile free ferry ride from Galveston. You drive your car right onto the ferry, step out, and enjoy a wonderful 10 minute cruise accross Galveston Bay. My daughter loves watching the dolphins swim, and the pelicans dive for fish. We usually get a loaf of bread before boarding and feed the seagulls that follow you across the bay (It makes for wonderful pictures). When you drive off the ferry its only 15 minutes to your beach front property. You can build one large estate or 3 or more separate homes on the land. The property is rare not only because of its size, but also because it is over 8 feet above sea level, is fully insurable, behind a protective barrier dune, and ready to be built on. There are homes on either side of the property, and the Beach Front portion is a cleared grassy area that your neighbor mows for you. There are homes built on either side of the property, and a bed and breakfast 2 homes to the east. This area is loved by second home owners and investors alike since a home here can easily pay for itself by renting it out during the peak summer season. Many people charge $1000 to $3000 per week to rent out their homes and are booked well in advance. You get a vacation home and an investment that pays for itself and you can enjoy it as well. This also allows you to fully deduct as a second home but still collect a rental income on your taxes, and pay for the property, the best of both worlds.
